MEETING ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR 2011

Dear colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the First New Zealand and Australia Fish Immunology workshop that will be held next March 2011 in Wellington, New Zealand and hosted by the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research and the University of Tasmania. The detailed program with all theoretical and "hands-on" practical sessions will be available shortly. I would like to ask for your collaboration and encourage your students and staff to participate. This is a unique opportunity for those interested in the area of fish health and immunity. Participants will learn both basic and applied aspects of fish immunopathology and acquire skills and techniques valuable for the fish farming industry and research.

The second annual Canadian Comparative Immunology & Pathology workshop will be held at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (May 24th-27th 2011). After a very successful and informative workshop last year in Waterloo (hosted by Dr. Brian Dixon), we are excited to be hosting this meeting at the UofA and are sending out a call for participants. Interested investigators should contact James Stafford (stafford@ualberta.ca) if they wish to attend and indicate how many students/trainees they will be bringing in order to facilitate accommodation arrangements. A deadline for intent to attend is January 30, 2011. Although not completely finalized the registration costs will be $300 for PI's and $200 for students/PDF's. Registration will include two lunches and a banquet. We will reserve a block of rooms in residences on campus and the cost of these would be ~75$/person/day. More information will follow shortly regarding registration procedures, abstract submission, and the preliminary program.
