Request for tributes for Jack Marchalonis

Dear Colleagues:

It is our sad duty to inform you that Dr Jack Marchalonis died on June 22nd, following a tough battle with colon cancer. An obituary will be published in Developmental and Comparative Immunology, but the International Society for Developmental and Comparative Immunology will also publish, in its eboard, those tributes to Jack that members of the Society would like to contribute.

Jack was one of the founders of modern comparative immunology, and he leaves a huge footprint on the field. Many of you will have known him personally and will have warm memories of his kindness and friendship, whereas others will know him through his work and the influence that he had on our research.

The Society welcomes your personal tributes to Jack, and your contribution can be sent directly to L. Courtney Smith (csmith@gwu.edu), preferably before August 31, 2007. They will be collated and sent out by eboard to everyone in September, and will also be posted on the isdci website.
