10th ISDCI CONGRESS, CHARLESTON, SC 1-6th July 2006
The plans for the 10th International Congress of ISDCI are coming along well. All of the details will be posted on the website soon.
When you register, you will also reserve your hotel at the same time and for one fee. The registration cost will include:
* Conference registration - includes: admittance to sessions, Program Book/Abstracts, breaks
* 6 nights hotel at Charleston Place
- Rates are quoted for either a single room or double (sharing)
- If bringing a non-registering spouse, choose the single room
- Student rates are quoted for 3 people sharing a room.
- Fill out the form on the reg form or website to reserve a room.
- Rooms cannot be guaranteed after May 1, 2006, so book early
- Complimentary high speed internet connection in your room
* 5 breakfasts - July 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
* 3 lunches - July 2, 3, 5
* Closing Banquet - July 6
* Welcome Reception - July 2
* Baseball evening - July 4 - subject to cancellation depending on team schedule
ISDCI members will receive reduced rates for the conference registration. To encourage participation, there will be a special rate for students. The Society plans, once again, to have bursaries to support young scientists' attendance at the Congress.
NB To be eligible for these awards, applicants must be active members of the Society.

Speakers: Jim Kaufman Crompton Laboratory, England), Val Smith (St Andrews, Scotland), Kenneth Soderhall (Uppsala, Sweden) , Mike Siva-Jothy (Sheffield, England) and Tom Little, Francis Jiggins, Andrew Read, Judith Allen, Andrea Graham, Andrew McDonald, Gar Loake (all from Edinburgh, Scotland).

LABORATORY EXPERIENCE SOUGHT
Christina Sina, a 27 year old student at the Zoologisches Institut der Universität, Kiel, Germany, is seeking a 6 month placement (Sept 05-Feb 06) in a laboratory working on any aspect of comparative immunology to gain research experience and learn techniques. She is currently studying Biology, mainly Zoology, Cell Biology, and Biochemistry at Kiel, and has a particular interest in Comparative Immunology. She has done a 6 week practical course at Kiel, run by Matthias Leippe, and has experience in cloning and recombinantly expressing a protein in E. coli. Christina would like to travel overseas for this placement, ideally where English is spoken. She does not require a stipend for living expenses.
