ISDCI: Important messages from the President

FUKUOKA MEETING JULY 2012.

The extended deadline for registration (at the early bird reduced rate) and Abstract submission is on 14th May. Please get your registration in and Abstract(s) submitted by then. After this deadline it will still be possible to register for the meeting but the higher registration fee will apply. Also, because the Scientific Planning Committee now has to arrange the programme, it may not be possible to allocate slots for talks requested after the 14th May, although as far as possible, every effort will be made to do so. Poster presentations should still be possible, but late Abstracts may not be included in the Programme booklet.

Extra hotel rooms have been made at available in the Hilton Sea Hawk Hotel, the Seaside Hotel Twins Momochi, and Hyatt Residential Suites in Fukuoka. Please see the accommodation web page at JTG-GMT:

ISDCI OFFICER ELECTIONS.

There have been some delays getting the ISDCI Officer elections underway, mainly because the process is dependent on having an up to date list of paid up and emeritus members. Please note only current and emeritus members are eligible to vote and so receive ballot papers. If you wish to exercise your right to vote on the election please ensure you are current (paid up or Emeritus) member. Every one who has submitted membership application via the new on-line system will be on this list.

Please note that merely receiving a E-Board mailing or having access to DCI on-line is NOT an indicator of membership. You can re-join ISDCI by following the instructions on this site:

FANCY HOSTING AN ISDCI CONGRESS?

Bids are sought for hosting the 2015 International Congress of ISDCI. If you would like to invite ISDCI to your city or town to showcase your country or state, please contact me (Val Smith; vjs1@st-andrews.ac.uk) for advice about what it entails. It is a great opportunity to bring attention to your institute and lab. You can organize a conference where you want, the way you want and when you want, and it would be a great experience for you, your students and fellow research workers. I look forward to hearing from you.

CHANGES TO ISDCI E-BOARD MAILINGS

The old E-Board mailing list is in the process of being revised to include only paid up (full and pre/post) and emeritus. It is planned to go fully to the new up-to-date mailing list in June. At present two lists are operating in parallel, explaining why some of you get double (or even multiple mailings). After June anyone who is not a current member will no longer receive E-Board messages. Likewise the members list used by Elsevier to grant access to DCI online should fully switch over to the new list and anyone not eligible to access DCI as a member will lose access privileges. SO IF YOU WISH TO ENJOY THE ADVANTAGES OF ACCESSING DCI ON-LINE AND/OR RECEIVE E-BOARD MESSAGES, BUT HAVE LET YOUR MEMBERSHIP LAPSE, YOU MUST RE-JOIN SOON. You can do this on-line at this site:
